1.Majestic Baseball League (hereafter called MBL is an online simulation league using Sierra's Front Page Sports Baseball 98 as its game engine
2. MBL's rules have been created to recreate the real experience of GM'ing a major league baseball team as closely as possible.
3. All players in the league that are generated are fictional but Franchise players may be real players that played in the MLB at some point
4. The league consists of 1 League with 3 divisions (East, Central, West) playing a 162 game schedule. All teams will use a DH
5.At the end of the season, the 3 division winners plus 1 wildcard team (the non-division winner with the best record) from each league will qualify for the playoffs.
6.Playoffs consist of 2 rounds (Wildcard Round, and the World Series). All rounds are best of 7 series
7.Players may play any position in which their FA rating for that position is at least a 30.
8.Teams may not use a 4-man pitching rotation until Sept 1.
9.Current Commissioner is Jose Gutierrez starting with the current 2053 season
10. All Potential [PO] ratings are hidden.
11. Salaries are not used.
12. The League is currently full, but if you want to get on the waiting list, email Jose at bbleaguecreator@gmail.com
1. Please refer to the Life Cycle of the Season on the main page to see which phase we are currently on.
2. Each season starts with Retirements and Protections for the Free Agent Draft.
3. After Free Agent Draft is processed, we have Spring Training. Each team is allowed one Position change (see POSITION CHART above), one Added Pitch, and one Pitch Removal during Spring Training. This position will become the player's secondary position, unless otherwise stated.
4. Each sim will last one month, except for the ammy draft month (June), and the end of the season (Sep/Oct) which are split into 2 separate sims
5. The Amateur Draft Pool will then be released to the league and a date will be set for the draft.
6. Roster moves and transactions will be processed after the amateur draft has been completed.
7. On Sep 1, ACT rosters can expand to 40 players and roster moves will be processed at this time.
8. The Championship will be simulated.
9. The “start new season” button will then be pressed and updated league reports will be posted to the website.
10. The Free Agent Draft Pool will then be released to the league (consisting of all players age 27, 31, and 35 & above). A date will be set for the draft.
1. You must maintain a 25-man Active roster at all times (with the exception of the off season). Normally, a team will carry 11 pitchers and 14 batters or 12 pitchers and 13 batters, depending on depth and needs.
2. You need not conform to this, but there are basic minimums you must adhere to:
You must have at least 9 batters to make up your batting lineup since there is a DH
You must have at least 2 batters who are qualified at catcher
You must have at least 8 pitchers to give yourself the minimum of 4 starters and 4 relievers.
3. On September 1 of the season schedule, you may expand your active roster to 40 men. The roster must be cut back down to 25 again before the playoffs (if your team qualifies for the postseason). Overall, your Active and AAA rosters may not add up to more than 40 men at any time during the season, including the September call up
4.You have up to 15 slots available in your AAA roster. These players can be called up/send down without any restrictions
5. You are additionally given 10 slots in your Low Roster. You do not have to maintain a full 10 players there
6. Once promoted from Low, you must keep them in Active or AAA, you can not send them back to Low during the season
7, Any player with an experience (EXP) of 0 who is called up to the Active (major league) roster will begin gaining experience the following season. Once a player’s experience turns to 1, they will gain a year of experience every season regardless of which roster they are placed on.
8.The exception to this rule is for September call ups. If a rookie is called up in September (and has not been called up prior to September) he can play without losing rookie status. If he reaches 100 AB's or 35 IP, he will lose his status, but otherwise rookies can be played in September.
1. Free Agents can be signed at any time, except during the post season, with a limit of 3 per team per phase. This means you can attempt to sign 3 guys, that does not mean you will get 3 (the limit is doubled to 6 during the off-season after the free agent draft but before spring training).
2. If the same Free Agent is requested by multiple teams, then the computer will determine what team a player is assigned to, which is determined by the current draft order.
3. Unless specifically stated by the owner, newly signed Free Agents will be placed in AAA. In the event AAA is full, then they will be placed in LOW if under the age of 26, or ACT if older than 25.
4. If a roster spot is not available for a newly signed Free Agent, then the owner must submit the name of a player to be released, in order to accommodate the Free Agent. In the event the owner fails to provide a player to be released, then the Free Agent will remain as such and be available immediately for signing by other teams.
5. Free Agent acquisitions will be determined 24 hours prior to the next regularly scheduled phase day. This gives the recipient one day to add them to their active roster.
1. Players are automatically generated by the game.
2. The Amateur draft will consist of three rounds of drafting. Any player not drafted will be placed in the free agent pool.
The first 2 rounds will be manual, with round 3 being done by the computer.
NOTE: IF YOU DON'T HAVE A SLOT IN LOW, THE COMPUTER WILL SKIP YOU IN THE THIRD ROUND.
3. The initial Draft order will be the reverse order of the initial Free Agent Draft. All future Draft orders will be determined by the previous seasons record.
4. If an owner does not attend the draft or submit a draft list, he forfeits his pick.
5. Once a pick has been made or skipped, that decision is final.
1. The free agent draft will consist of all players currently in the free agent pool plus eligible players on all teams that have not been protected.
2. Each team may protect a total of 3 players.
3. All players age 27, 31, and 35 & above are eligible for the free agent draft, as well as the entire free agent pool.
4. *Hitters in the free agent pool age 26 and under will receive a 5% boost. You can drop players to the pool prior to the free agent draft in order to get the boost, but those players are fair game.
5. Players not drafted will remain on their current teams’ roster.
6. No team may lose more than 1 player in the free agent draft.
7. The free agent draft will consist of one round. (computer owned teams will pick from the Free Agent Pool (one round only).
8. Draft order will be determined by the previous seasons record.
9. If an owner does not attend the draft or submit a draft list that includes BOTH the player’s name & team, he forfeits his pick(s).
10. Once a pick has been made or skipped, that decision is final, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
1. Initial teams will be located and named by the commissioner of the league.
2. Initial players will be created by the game. The initial Amateur draft will be in snake order of the initial league draft.
3. Rosters will be comprised of players drafted by the computer in a 40 round draft.
4. Team names, locations, and stadiums may be changed by the original owner once they are assigned to the league.
5. Team names, locations, statium names, and stadium models may be changed at the end of the season, as long as none of those changes were made the previous season.
6. *Free Agents may be signed at any point during the season, with the exception of the post season. Team order is according to the current draft order. If there isn't room on your roster for the free agent, then you must provide the name(s) of the players who are being released, in order to make room for the Free Agents. This also applies to trades. Owners are limited to 3 requests per phase. This is doubled to 6 during the off-season (after the Free Agent Draft).
7. *During Spring Training, each team is allowed to add one new position to a player, using the position chart. The new position will start with a pre-spring training rating of 40, and have a POT of 60. Each team can also add a Pitch and remove a Pitch. The added Pitch will have a pre-spring training rating of 30, and have a POT of 80.
8. If a player somehow disappears from the game completely, this will be regarded as a lifetime ban for substance abuse, and no compensation will be given to the team.
9. *All newly acquired players will be assigned to LOW if possible, then AAA, then ACT, unless otherwise directed by the owner. If there is no room on the roster for newly acquired players, spots must be made available prior to the next phase, otherwise the newly acquired players will drop into the free agent pool.
10. Players cannot be moved from ACT/AAA to LOW. Only newly acquired players under the age of 27 can be placed in LOW. Note: A new change now allows players under 27 to be placed in LOW just prior to spring training.
11. Each team must keep a minimum of 10 Pitchers and 2 Catchers in ACT. A Pitcher must have a minimum EN rating of 60 to be a starter. Note: The 5th starter, a.k.a. an "Opener", can have any EN rating.
12. “Tanking” is not permitted, however, during the last regular season sim, you may play anyone you wish.
13. If the league is using a "Created Fielder", the owner gets to split 200 points between the CH, PH, and SP ratings. Those ratings will be the player's POTs. He can also play 2 positions (all Outfield positions = one position).
The owner can also choose if the player bats righty, lefty, or both. His Primary Position will have a POT of 80, and his Secondary Position(s) will have a POT of 60.
The player will be created with lower ACT ratings and at the age of 17. All other ratings will be created equally among all the created players. You cannot add participation points to a created player, nor can you boost him.
14.If the league is using a “Created Pitcher”, the owner gets to split 450 points between the AS, EN, CO, & Pitch ratings (Owner can choose between 3 or 4 pitches). Those ratings will be the player’s POTs. The owner can choose if the player throws right or left. The player will be created with lower ACT ratings and at the age of 17. All other ratings will be created equally among all the created players. You cannot add participation points to a created player, nor can you boost him.
1. Players & all draft picks for current year & next may be traded at any time except during the post season.
2. Owners with multiple teams may not trade between their respective teams.
3. A trade is not final until all owners have agreed to the trade, as well as the Commissioner
4. Commissioner has the right to disapprove any trade, if deemed grossly unfair
1. Be respectful of one another at all times. This includes a zero-tolerance on foul language and obscenities
2. Submit initial lineups by set deadline (usually a three day period). Requesting to have the computer do your lineups is acceptable.
3. Make your draft selections within 8 hours (between 9am -9pm) or submit a draft list prior to your pick.
4. Respond to trade inquiries within 48 hours.
5. Notify the Commish whenever you will be unable to participate for an extended period of time (more than 3 days).
6. If you fail to make your draft pick in time, you will forfeit your pick.
7.The commissioner reserve the right to kick out any owner at any time. Owners will be considered for removal if at the end of the season they have not received any participation points.
